2010 is the 21st Anniversary of Tornadoes Chairmans Challenge, the yearly end of season event to celebrate the seasons achievements and for swimmers of all ages and abilities to get together for a fun gala and fundraising activities.

This years event will take place on Sunday 18th July 2010 and as it is the 21st anniversary we are trying to make this an extra special event by inviting all the previous Chairmen of the club to attend and see how we have developed and the legacy that they have created.

This year the Chairman has set out a challenge to all the swimmers, parents, coaches and volunteers to undertake a sponsored walk with money raised to go towards the running of the club. As you will know, the club is run on a not for profit basis and there is the need to maintan teachers and coaches training for the benefit of all the swimmers as well as the hire of coaches to attend galas and the purchase of new equipment to aid swimmers from Teaching Groups through to the National Squad and Masters section. This event, it is hoped, will raise funds to pay for such activities, especially if every walker raises a minimum of 25 pounds in sponsorship money.

There will be two walks, one of 21 miles in length from Westbay to Osprey Leisure Centre and the other a three mile walk from the Nothe Fort to the Osprey Leisure Centre. The walks will take place so that swimmers can finish at the pool and then take part in the swimming gala with fun for all the swimmers. Details of the two walks and the galas events are detailed below.,/p>

Every walker, whether a swimmer, teacher, parent or volunteer who raises money for the club will receive a free hotdog or burger.

Dawes Dawdle

Come and join the Club's Chairman, Kelvin Dawe and other walkers who are prepared to rise to the challenge of walking from Westbay to the Osprey Leisure Centre, a distance of some 21 miles. We will walk along the South West Coastal Path which is a truly wonderful walk with stunning views. To get back to the swimming pool for the 2pm start of the swimming gala, this will mean an early rise with a planned 6am start time at Westbay!!!!!. We have secured transport for the walkers from Portland to Westbay by the kind sponsorship of Weyline Taxis. If you want to join the walkers either add your name to the list on the Clubs noticeboard or contact Colin Stanger (A Squad) direct. In addition you can print off a sponsorship form below and lets see how much money we can raise for the club
