    History

The Diving Team was formed in April 2002 as a spring board and high-board teaching group as part of the Tornadoes of South Dorset SC. Originally it was to teach and coach diving skills to the younger members of the club being an extension of the Club Night programme; it has now expanded to offer diving to swimmers from ASA affiliated clubs. Thus currently there are swimmers from Weymouth SC and West Dorset Warriors SC learning diving skills alongside Tornadoes. The Tornadoes make up 75% of the divers.

    Membership

The only requirement for members of ASA affiliated clubs is that they are safe in deep water, ie 3.5m water depth, and can swim 25m. The current membership is 20 (Tornadoes 15, West Dorset Warriors 2, Weymouth 3). Although average attendance is usually about half this figure.
