Chairman's Challenge 2006 Tornadoes of South Dorset swimmers celebrated their anniversary in style with 150 swimmers competing in the South Dorset team’s Chairman’s Challenge at their home base, the Boscawen Centre on Portland. The event celebrated 25 years since the club's formation as Thornlow Tornadoes in 1980 and its transferral 5 years ago to the prestigious 6 lane 25m pool at Boscawen, a move that has proved very worthwhile for the club, with National and International swimmers amongst their ranks. The club provides a teaching programme that is second to none in the region and also holds ASA Teaching Centre Accreditation under the tuition of ASA Senior Coach/Tutor Phil Daniels. The rainbow sprint meet devised by Lou Taylor is now linked to the ASA National Plan to give opportunities to young swimmers to experience swimming competition as early as possible. “Even our Yellow Hat Beginner Groups take part over the 10m distant”, said Lou Taylor South Dorset Organiser.
