Generally an easy win for Tornadoes, which was
never really in doubt after seeing the pts after the first 10 events.
TSD had a strong team out, but not all 'A'
swimmers were available.
It was a '3 team gala', which was swum with
mixed boys and girls individual events. This reduced recovery times
between races, and had a major impact on several of the competitors that
were 'swimming-up', to cover for missing senior swimmers...
Especially Jo Puckett, Laura Newsam, Lauren Podger and
Tom Crew. The gala became an endurance race for these competitors,
swimming back-to-back on several occasions.
Tornadoes finished with 129 pts, in 1st place
ahead of hosts Poole (111) and Weymouth
(58).
Strong 11&u boys (tom m, scott d, harry
d, connor a) and girls (georgia
e-c, jaz h, sophie d, amelia s) teams dominated their age groups, with
good wins in many of the relays and individual events.
13&u boys (paul h, marcus c, chris p, tom j) team were also in good form,
recording several victories', but the girls (natasha
c, rebbecca b, rachel
w, alyce w) found it tougher going
in many of the races against the hosts.
15&u girls (jo p, laura n, lauren p, maria l) team
worked hard all night, having to cover the open category as well. But they
still won most of their races. The boys ( tomcw, lloyd b, luke d, tom cn) struggled in
the relays but held their own in the individual events.
Finally in the open categorya tired girls team (u15's
+ gemmat, laura
g), with no open swimmers, fought hard against a strong Poole
team. Having to swim back to back with the turn-around twice as quick in
this 3 team gala, which took it's toll.
In contrast our strong senior boys (james b, niall l, Ed s, Tom c) team, completed a
whitewash of the opposition in all the individual and relay events.
A good warm-up for Speedo, with lots of swimmers
working very hard. a new gala/team experience for
a few younger swimmers.
37 pbs
on the night... with 15 in the individual events.
